Collate Results function fails after updating PC 11.00 to Patch 4v2

ALM-Performance Center (PC) 11.00 is installed on Windows server 2008 64 bit machines. After updating the PC Servers and Hosts to Patch 4v2 and the ALM Server to SP2 the PC System Health check shows no errors. The problem is the Results from a load test cannot be collated and the following error messages are displayed in the PC Event Log:

Result collation critical error. Reason: ‘OTA Operation UploadVuserLogs time exceeded the maximum allowed with no response 5400. PC run id = 1741’
Timeslot ID ‘1387’ was closed
Run 378 (timeslot 1387) changed state from Collating Results to Failed Collating Results.
Upload file failed. File Path on host: F:\Program Files (x86)\HP\Performance Center Host\orchidtmp\Results\PERFORMANCE_CENTER_Performance_Load_Testing_378\Run_378\VuserLog.zip, Error: OTA Operation UploadVuserLogs time exceeded the maximum allowed with no response 5400. PC run id = 1741
Upload file failed. File Path on host: F:\Program Files (x86)\HP\Performance Center Host\orchidtmp\Results\PERFORMANCE_CENTER_Performance_Load_Testing_378\Run_378\output.mdb.zip, Error: OTA Operation UploadResultsErrorDatabase time exceeded the maximum allowed with no response 5400. PC run id = 1741

The reason for this error is because the OTA client installation on the PC Hosts is invalid. Therefore the communication between the PC Host and the ALM Server cannot be established and the load test Results collation fails.

To fix this issue

First verify that Patch 4v2 is correctly installed on the PC Hosts:

Connect to each PC Host and check Windows Control Panel > Programs > View Installed Updates – ensure Installed Updates shows HP Performance Center Host 11.00 Patch 4v2 is installed.

If Patch 4v2 is correctly installed, try to force an update of the OTA client on the PC Host.

1. Login to a problematic Host as the PC user (default IUSR_METRO).
2. Open IE and connect to the ALM server. Note the ALM Server must already be updated to ALM 11.00 SP2.
3. Select the Add-Ins Page link > HP Quality Center Connectivity and download the HP QC Connectivity Add-In to the PC Host.
4. Check if the Results can now be collated for a problem Run – for example, Run 378 in this case.

    java.sql.SQLNonTransientConnectionException: [Mercury][SQLServer JDBC Driver]The requested instance is either invalid or not running.

    On my ALM server.
